Same-day help when it hurts most

Dental emergencies never happen at a good time. When you call, our team will ask a few quick questions, tell you what to do right now, and get you in to see Dr. A.J. Khan the same day. You don’t need to be an existing patient.

Call us right away for:

  • Severe or throbbing toothache, especially one that keeps you up at night
  • Knocked-out adult tooth. Time matters, so call immediately.
  • Cracked, chipped or broken tooth
  • Swelling in your face or gums, or a pimple-like bump on the gum (possible infection)
  • Lost filling or crown
  • Broken denture or loose implant crown
  • Pain or swelling around a wisdom tooth
  • Mouth injury to the lips, tongue or cheeks

Not sure if it’s an emergency? Call anyway. It’s better to catch a small problem early.

What to do before you get here

  • Knocked-out tooth: hold it by the crown (the chewing part), not the root. Rinse gently. Don’t scrub. Try to place it back in the socket; if you can’t, keep it in milk or saliva and come in right away.
  • Toothache: rinse with warm water, floss gently, and use a cold compress on your cheek. Don’t put aspirin directly on the gums.
  • Broken tooth: save the pieces, rinse, and use a cold compress. Avoid chewing on that side.
  • Lost crown: keep it safe and bring it with you.
  • Swelling: use a cold compress and call us. Don’t wait for swelling to go down on its own.

What happens at your emergency visit

  1. Quick relief first. Our team finds the source of the pain (using 3D CBCT imaging when needed) and focuses on getting you comfortable.
  2. Clear answers. Dr. Khan explains what’s going on and your options, with costs, before treatment.
  3. Treatment, often the same visit. Depending on the problem, that may include a filling, root canal, crown, extraction or a temporary fix. If a tooth can’t be saved, we’ll talk about replacement options like dental implants.
  4. Comfort options. Nervous? Ask about nitrous oxide, oral or IV sedation.

Emergency dentist FAQ

Can I be seen the same day for a dental emergency in Sanger?

What if I have a dental emergency after hours or on a weekend?

After hours, call (940) 458-9000 and your call is forwarded to our on-call doctor, who will help you decide what to do next. For trouble breathing or swallowing, or uncontrolled bleeding, call 911.

Do I need to be a current patient?

No. New patients are welcome for emergency visits. Just call (940) 458-9000.

Should I go to the ER or the dentist for a toothache?

For most toothaches, broken teeth or lost crowns, a dentist is the right choice because ERs usually can’t repair teeth. Go to the ER or call 911 for trouble breathing or swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding, or swelling spreading to your eye or neck.

What should I do with a knocked-out tooth?

Hold it by the crown, rinse it gently, and try to place it back in the socket. If you can’t, keep it in milk or saliva and call (940) 458-9000 right away. The sooner you’re seen, the better the chance of saving it.

How much does an emergency dental visit cost?

It depends on what treatment you need. We’ll explain your options and costs before we begin. We accept all PPO plans and offer financing through Sunbit, Proceed, CareCredit, Alphaeon and others.

Do you treat dental emergencies for children?

Yes. We see kids from 6 months old as well as adults. Call us right away if your child has a dental injury or toothache.
